A Fair Play Triumph

Thank you to both West Reading and Greyfriars who were involved in a great moment of fair play on Saturday.

With Greyfriars having taken the lead midway through a tense first half, Jeff Hallett scored a potentially controversial goal to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards.

Although the goal was awarded, when asked by the West Reading players to confirm whether he had pushed through the back of a defender in the immediate build up to the goal, unseen by the referee, he agreed that he did and both Jeff and the West Reading players confirmed this with the referee. As a result, the goal was disallowed and the game restarted with a free-kick.

It was great to see the spirit of the league in action, particularly so early on in the game. Jeff, the West Reading players and the referee deserve great credit for the way they reacted in the situation.
