Guidelines to referees to deal with foul/abusive language 2011/12

Please find below guidelines issued to all referees regarding how the committee wishes them to deal with incidents of foul or abusive language

Guidelines on foul/abusive language

 

·         First instance of foul language, not directed at any player, spectator, referee or assistant referee –

        Warning from Referee

 

·         Repeated use of foul language, not directed at any player, spectator, referee or assistant referee

Yellow Card

 

·         Continued use of foul language, not directed at any player, spectator, referee or assistant referee

2nd Yellow Card/Red Card

 

·         Foul and abusive language aimed at the referee, assistant referee, specific team member, opposition or spectator

Red Card

 

Guidelines on suspensions

Period of suspensions will follow the FA guidelines, an example of which can be found here:

with the following exceptions:

TVCFL Variations: 

·         fines and penalty points recommended by the FA & have been removed;

·         duration of suspension in days given below will be converted into games at a ratio of 1 game = 7 days:  this will be the number of games the player is suspended for;

·         All periods of suspensions will be confirmed by the league committee;

·         if a ‘double red’ card is issued, the suspensions shall be served consecutively;

·          the period of suspension for red cards  will be multiplied for dismissals for the same offence  throughout the season e.g. 1st sending off: period of suspension x 1; 2nd sending off for similar offence: period of suspension x 2; 3rd sending off for similar offence: period of suspension x 3 etc.

·         Teams may appeal against the length of suspension, although all appeals must have the support of the church representative
