Reading Post 'Five-Star Findlay Helps Kerith Hit Vineyard for 16' with unedited report
Top met bottom in the Thames Valley Churches Football League and, whilst the result was predictable, the scoreline was certainly not. Ben Findlay led the way for Kerith Community Church, scoring 5 in a 16-0 mauling of Vineyard FC. A further 4 goals were added by Lee Berry while James Nwoseh netted his third hat-trick in as many games. Barry Agar (2), Mike Yartel and Andy Roberts rounded off the scoring. Tilehurst Albion stay second, coming out on top in a tight contest at Bethel United. Danny Lawrence and Richard Delicia scored the important goals in their 2-1 win, with Stuart Newton getting the home side's reply. Brookside Saint Laurence took a while to get going against a determined Reading Saints side but managed to retain third place following this latest victory. Although leading 1-0 at the break, the home side found their opponents tough to break down but finally broke free on the hour mark and ran out 5-1 winners. Ben Sheppard scored twice whilst Kieran Knight, Joe Hare and Mark Priest added the others; Matt Blake hit Reading Saints' consolation. Warfield kept in touch with the leaders and remain unbeaten, but only after a narrow 1-0 victory at Greyfriars FC. The visitors scored the crucial goal early on from a fine far post header but, despite creating further chances never really troubled Rob Tebby in the Greyfriars goal. The home side, for their part, gave as good as they got and, but for some great last-ditch tackles and several fine saves by Warfield's keeper Rhys Jones, will feel that they deserved at least a point. Wycliffe Wanderers, now unbeaten in five games, moved up to fifth and leap-frogged opponents West Reading CFC after a comfortable 5-0 victory. Ross Thompson netted a double while the others came from Mike Sharp, Dave Cuthbertson and Neil Healey.
