Reading Post: 'Hall hits four to set up Brookside Romp' with unedited report

Saints "Go Marching" in the TVCFL

Brookside Saint Laurence stormed to the top of the Thames Valley Churches Football League with a comprehensive 11:0 victory over basement side Vineyard FC.  James Hall led the way with four goals in the one-sided encounter, while Kieran Knight also weighed in with a hat-trick. Courtney Isaacs (2), Ben Sheppard and Chris West completed the scoring.
Meanwhile, Reading Saints secured their first league victory of the season with a fine 4:1 win over fellow strugglers Real World Corinthians. Matt Blake and Rob Jones each scored a double to lift them above their opponents on goal difference. Jon Long scored Real World's consolation. Freescoring Kerith Community Church maintained their unbeaten record and are in touch with top spot after an 8 nil win at faltering Bethel United. After Rob Dangerfield opened the scoring, the Bracknell side never looked back, with James Nwoseh adding a hat-trick and both Ben Findlay and Adam Fay each hitting two.
Wycliffe Wanderers were quick out of the blocks in their game against Greyfriars, Baptiste Jouhannaud scoring twice in the first five minutes to set them on their way to a 6:1 win. The game wasn't quite as one-sided as the scoreline suggests though and Greyfriars grew into the game as the half wore on. Neil Healy added a superb third for Wycliffe on the stroke of half time, but Greyfriars came back early in the second half through substitute Matt Bradbrook, the catalyst for a period of pressure from the visitors. However, Wycliffe weathered the storm and Ross Thompson effectively sealed the win with the first of a neat double, firing into the top corner, before Jouhannaud completed his treble.
Toby Briggs helped Tilehurst Albion return to winning ways with a hat-trick in his side's 4:2 win at West Reading CFC. Bradley Lilley added the fourth.
