Reading Post - "Hot-shot Ellis hits another hat-trick" - Updated to include unedited report
Last week's round-up is again featured in the Reading Post which was out today.
Here is the unedited report, written by Chris Barltrop
"Hot-Shot Ellis' Second Hat-Trick Helps Kerith Hit Greyfriars for Six!"
Jonathan Ellis helped himself to his second hat-trick in as many games as his Kerith Community
Church side outplayed Greyfriars FC at Bulmershe. The Bracknell outfit scored two early goals to
assume control of the game and were 3 nil up by half term. The home team's never-say-die attitude
and gallant defending maintained this scoreline until the final ten minutes when Kerith added a
further three goals; Ellis completing his treble in the process. Greyfriars did have the last word,
however, when substitute Matthew Bradbrook evaded a couple of challenges before drawing the
keeper and coolly slotting the ball home.
Another hat-trick, by Jamie Carstairs, in five second-half minutes enabled his West Reading CFC side
to maintain their one-hundred per-cent record after three games. Entertaining a Bethel United
side hoping to bounce back from last week's beating by Warfield, the home side's early opener
was quickly cancelled out; the 1:1 scoreline remained until half time. After the break, the contest
stayed tight until Carstairs took the game by the scruff of the neck, his quickfire treble ensuring a 4:1
victory.
Neal Healey tops the goalscoring charts after his 4 goal haul helped his Wycliffe Wanderers side
pick up their first points of the season. Dave Cuthbertson and man-of-the-match Jonny Green
added the others as their 6:1 victory over Reading Saints was a positive response following their 8:3
drubbing by Kerith last time out. Saints' player-manager Rob Jones hit the Woodford Park side's sole
consolation.
League newcomers Vineyard FC continue to find life hard after slumping to their third straight
defeat, but at least they managed to get on the scoresheet for the first time. However, three Real
World Corinthians' efforts from Lee Holmes, Mike Kirby and David Leese saw the Coley Park side pick
up their first three points this campaign, and condemn Vineyard to another week propping up the
table.
Next weeks fixtures:
