Reading Post: "Tilehurst Albion edged out by Warfield's 10 men''
Due to holidays, I've posted this weeks review early. Look out for the edited version in the Reading Post tomorrow!
At the top of the Thames Valley Churches Football League, champions Warfield squeezed past Tilehurst Albion after a tight affair. Both teams have been free-scoring since the season began but neither side could make the most of the few clear-cut chances they created. Despite losing a man before half time,Warfield dug in and, having resorted to attacking on the break, finally scored the single winning goal two minutes from time. Brookside Saint Laurence moved into second place, one point behind Warfield, following a 3-1 victory over Bethel United. Ben Sheppard scored twice with James Hall adding the other. Bethel's single reply came from Abubacarr Mboge. Kerith Community Church kept pace with the leaders after an 11-0 demolition of Real World Corinthians. A solid team perormance ensured that the Bracknell side were in control of the game from start to finish and, like Warfield, they remain unbeaten. Barry Agar, Ben Findley and James Nwoseh each scored doubles, while the remaining goals were added by James Kirby, Mark Pedley, Rob Dangerfield, Ben Eltham and Adam Gallaghan. West Reading CFC got back to winning ways with a 4-1 win at Reading Saints. James White (2), Chris Hayman and Jamie Carstairs grabbed the goals while Dave Kemp was on the mark with Saints' consolation. Wycliffe Wanderers returned to league action with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over a battling Vineyard FC, leading scorer Neil Healy grabbing another couple of goals to take his season's tally to 12. Wycliffe's other goals came courtesy of a Dave Cuthbertson brace and one from Danny Brain, while Vineyard's reply came from Stu Perry
